During a confusing time like the current pandemic the world is living through, the fight for small businesses and restaurants to stay open is a huge issue among everything else. Local restaurants in Mercer County are getting creative for survival through this disaster.
Restaurants that have never delivered before are now trying new options to maintain business. This goes from fast food all the way up to five-star restaurants.
The Stone Terrace by John Henry’s on Kuser Road is now offering a fun cooking show on Facebook Live; hosted by head chef and co-owner, Joe Russo.
The show Lets Just Cook, allows viewers to follow along with their own ingredients at home or pick up the required components beforehand at the restaurant.
Another creative idea restaurants in the area are participating in include an at-home pizza kit. Included in these kits are premade pizza dough, tomato sauce, cheese, and you can also request additional toppings.
Brothers Pizza on route 33, Massimo’s in the Foxmore Marketplace, and Marcello’s Pizza grill on George Dye road are all partaking in selling this at-home activity.
Rachel Olla, an employee at Marcello’s Pizza Grill, says “It’s a delicious and fun way to enjoy time with your family and bond over pizza.”
In addition, they are selling premade frozen pizzas for customers to save and throw in their oven whenever they please.
Along with these new and creative ideas, they are all still offering pick up or delivery services.
Brothers Pizza on route 33 is also selling bags of uncooked pasta, dry goods, canned beans, and rolls of toilet paper. They also are allowing customers to order meals for patients and employees at Robert Wood Johnson to be delivered there.
Another heartfelt gesture is Mannino’s 3 on route 33, which is offering an option to send a heart-shaped pizza to a loved one, in addition to their takeout services.
These are some options local businesses are offering to try something new for their customers while staying home during this pandemic, while also ensuring they are able to continue to keep their businesses open during this time.
